30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 8

Day 8-A Place You've Traveled To

New Orleans, Louisiana

I've not traveled far in my life... a bordertown in Mexico is the only time I've ever been out of the country. But, I've been many places in the US and I have to say, I've never had more fun that in NOLA!

My husband and I vacationed in NOLA last summer for 5 whole childless days - it was PURE bliss!!! Reagan stayed at Nana and PawPaw's and went to Vacation Bible School with her cousins. She had a blast... which helped us have a blast too!

We stayed at Chateau Bourbon right on Bourbon and Iberville. It was perfect - the hotel was REALLY nice (did I mention I scored our rooms for $43 a night?!) and the location was great. Easy access to Bourbon when we wanted it, but since we were a little on the outskirts of the French Quarter, we could also easily access Canal Street, Harrah's casino and the riverfront.

We ate at Cafe du Monde almost every morning - the beignets are absolutely amazing. They melt in your mouth! But let me warn you... DO NOT WEAR BLACK to Cafe du Monde!! You will leave covered in white! Kyle and I couldn't even begin to guess at how much powdered sugar they go through in a day, and it is caked on the tables, chairs and floor. I'm not sure any amount of mopping could get all that sugar up.

NOLA is COVERED in gorgeous landscaping. Even in the French Quarter, the homes have these amazing courtyards that are just gorgeous. And, the architecture is unreal... you have so many centuries depicted in its buildings.

We walked who knows how many miles in the 5 days we were there... You just start walking and see what you can find. We spent an entire day at the WWII Museum - which is AMAZING.

Oh, and don't even get me started about the food...!! WOW!!! We planned each day around the food we were going to eat - shrimp galore, mufaletta's, po boys, red beans and rice... it was all to die for!

Here are some pictures from our trip:
